Hey guys,
Part of the wicked trade that me and Quint made for epic and bfg was a bunch of fate cards and emperor's tarot. Anyone want to see if we can somehow incorporate them into a game? I figure an Eldar would need a Farseer, Marines should buy at least one Librarian and Orks would have a Weirdboy or something and that would get them these psychic cards, so many in a game... Anyone think this is cool? Adam |

I really liked the old fate cards. They gave you some cool twists which really added themed-flavor to your army. I'd love to take a shot at creating some "psychic power" cards for the Orks.

I totally agree. It's exactly the kind of thing that I would be keen on. I've got a set of them which I think would translate fairly well into the new system with only a minor amount of tweaking. There are some ork cards too, as well as the eldar cards. But then there is the Emperor's Tarot which I'm a little confused by; did that mean that the Imperial forces had their very own fate deck?

If I remember correctly, they created the "Emperor's Tarot" cards first. Every army used the same cards. Then, they became so popular, that GW created separate cards for each army: Orks, Eldar, etc.

Interesting. Yeah, I've noticed that there are cards in the Fate Deck that are totally oriented towards either Eldar, Orks, Chaos or Tyranids. 4 cards for each race. Some of them will require a little bit of modification but generally they are playable as they are.

I think if had race specific cards you mixed them in with the emperor's tarot before randomly getting your hand. Thus, you would end up with one or two race cards, and the rest were Tarot.
It was a pretty cool idea!

Adam, try bringing them one Wednessday, I'd love to try them out! As to how it worked last edition, it started out with just the standard deck for everyone, then the Imp Tarot, wich the Imperial players could use instead of the regular one. Then, either because it was a good idea, or to offset complaints, they published the Race Specific cards, 4 for each race, that you would mix into the standard deck to give it a bit more, and but it on par with the Tarot. As far as I understood and remember (which is sketchy, it was a long time ago, and I was quite young) you only mixed in the cards belonging to your race (so you didn't end up with Eldar psykers using Chaos powers).
But I'd love to try them out again, and I think I've got at least one deck of the old ones around here somewhere. Derek

Ahh that answers some questions then. Ok, I'm working on a rewrite and may possibly be able to get the guy who did the army cards to make new Fate cards for this edition.
